Kona is one of them — standing alongside Jamaica Blue Mountain as one of the most celebrated and sought-after coffees in the world. Both are defined by volcanic soil, dramatic mountain microclimates, and a scarcity that makes every harvest precious. Our extraordinary Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee is prized for its famously smooth, rich, rounded, balanced cup and has long been the benchmark of excellence in coffee. Kona brings something distinctly its own: a brighter character, a natural sweetness, and a fresh shorter finish.

Family-owned Estate

Some coffees carry history in every cup. This one carries 175 years of it. Greenwell Farms was founded in 1850 by Henry Nicholas Greenwell, an entrepreneur who saw the potential of Kona coffee before the world did. In 1873, he brought it to the World’s Fair in Vienna, Austria — introducing Hawaiian coffee to a global stage. Five generations later, his descendants still farm the same volcanic slopes, with the same conviction that Kona coffee is unlike anything else on earth. We have sourced our first offering of this world-famous coffee, directly from Tommy Greenwell himself.

Exclusive Selection

This exclusive coffee we have sourced is grown at 2,700 feet, as high as the Kona belt will allow before the climate shifts and the magic disappears. Here, the micro-climate does something remarkable: clouds roll in like clockwork each afternoon, a natural fog settles in, and temperatures swing dramatically from the high 70s by day to near 40°F at night. That thermal stress, that rhythm, it is precisely what concentrates flavor in the bean. The fields sit in a natural eddy shaped by the trade winds and the volcano, holding temperature steady and steady the growing conditions with it.

The variety is equally rare. This is the second cultivar ever introduced to Kona — an Arabica Typica brought to the island in the 1980s, distinct from the original Hawaiian Typica of 1828.

Every batch is processed field by field, cupped every week, and held to an uncompromising 100% standard.

Classic Beans

These new Classic flat beans are sourced from trees grown in one specific area of the Greenwell’s farm and precision-processed using color sorters in their own facility. Nothing leaves the farm that hasn’t passed Tom’s own palate.

Medium & Dark Roasts – Both carefully developed to highlight its complex flavors

We present this coffee in a beautiful medium roast to accentuate its finest qualities and a dark roast for those preferring its bolder notes. We have noticed with these extraordinary beans, that different brewing techniques highlight different notes, more than with other beans. Whichever brewing method you choose, all highlight its bright, citrus-kissed start that quickly gives way to a smooth, medium body carrying notes of milk chocolate and brown sugar. True to the Kona character Tom describes — mellow, smooth, no harsh bite — the finish is clean and harmonious, a gentle sweetness of dried apricot and jasmine that fades gracefully rather than lingering.
